Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies that search. The provider processes the query and displays its result. Washington County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own system.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, the message may be retained long enough to respond and manage the communication. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal web-server and analytics activity can collect technical facts about a visit:
- IP address and visit timestamps
- Browser type, browser version, and operating system
- Device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that help measure traffic and how pages are used. Analytics services may combine visit data to show patterns such as popular pages and exit points. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may change how part of the site works.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, maintain, and improve site performance
- Route a search request to the selected outside provider
- Find and repair errors or security problems
- Measure which content is useful to visitors
- Display advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Washington County Criminal History does not compile, host, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies the Washington County Circuit Court Clerk, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, Kentucky Department of Corrections, and Kentucky Sex Offender Registry as appropriate official sources. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report. Kentucky public access to government records is governed by the Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, while registry disclosure is governed by KRS 17.500 through 17.580; neither makes this private site an official record custodian.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search tools. Data submitted to one of those tools is handled under that company’s privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Review those terms before entering a query because this policy does not control a partner’s systems.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Kentucky courts, law enforcement, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy policy applies. Advertising companies may also use their own technology to recognize activity across websites; that processing occurs on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this site. Limited information can reach:
- A search partner chosen to process a query
- Analytics services used to measure site traffic
- Advertising networks that place ads
- Government or law enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security practices are used for information under this site’s control. No online system can promise absolute security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly seek personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as coming from a minor may be removed after the matter is brought to the operator’s attention.
Your Data Rights
Rights can differ by residence and applicable law. A visitor may ask to access personal data held by the site, request correction or deletion, or object to certain processing. These requests concern site visitor data, not official Washington County or Kentucky records. Government-record inspection and exemption questions follow the Kentucky Open Records Act, including KRS 61.872 and KRS 61.878, through the government custodian.
- Ask what personal data the site holds
- Request correction of inaccurate visitor information
- Seek deletion where the law permits
- Object to or opt out of eligible processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as site practices or legal duties change. The revised text and its new effective date will appear here, so visitors should review it from time to time.
